Christy Plunkett-Barese is committed to helping her clients make informed decisions to achieve their financial goals and secure their future. With over 18 years in the non-profit government relations field, Christy’s deep interest in improving her own financial literacy and acumen led her to start a career in financial planning in 2021.
Over the years, she has honed her expertise in areas such as retirement planning, investment management, estate planning, and tax optimization. She specializes in divorce planning. Her personalized approach ensures clients receive tailored advice that aligns with their unique financial situation and long-term objectives.
Christy holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Georgia State University and is a proud member of several leading industry associations. She is a regular guest speaker at Second Saturday Divorce Workshops, Community Business Partnerships, and the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce. She has been invited to speak before police and first responder organizations in Northern Virginia and regularly attends industry conferences and workshops to stay abreast of the latest trends and regulations in financial planning. She holds the Certified Retirement Plan Counselor designation and the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst designation. Her clients appreciate her collaborative communication style, attention to detail, and unwavering dedication to their financial well-being.
Christy lives in Fairfax, VA, with her husband, son, and Basset Hound outside of work. She serves on the board for Rebuilding Together of Arlington, Fairfax, and Falls Church as Co-Chair of the Women’s Mean Business Committee for the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce and a member of NeXco National.

Michael (Mike) Torrey was born in La Jolla, CA. He graduated from Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax County, VA and from the University of Kansas, earning a B.A. in Personnel Administration.
Mike is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM and has been in the financial services industry since 1998. He began his career working in the small group benefits market, and eventually expanded to include retirement plans, executive benefits, and full-service financial planning. He has also obtained the following designations: Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF), Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA), and Qualified Plan Financial Consultant (QPFC).
]Mike is passionate about assisting busy clients with establishing, implementing, and monitoring financial plans so that clients can focus their time on their careers, their family, and their work in the local community. Being their trusted advisor who regularly sees the "big picture", allows clients to feel more confident about their future as well as that of their family as well.
Having been in the small business arena for almost 30 years, Mike has worked alongside attorneys, accountants, and other business advisors to show business owners how they can run their personal planning through their business entity to save on benefit costs, reduce their taxes, and keep their best employees from jumping to a competitor. These are especially critical when a business owner is considering how they can best monetize the illiquid wealth trapped in their business, while leaving a lasting legacy and creating the kind of income that they will need in order to move on to the next chapter of their lives with dignity and greater certainty.
Mike's client focuses are, attorneys, accountants, consultants, and government contractors. He enjoys working with veteran-owned firms and nonprofit organizations that serve veteran causes.
Mike is a retired Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve, having provided 30 years of active and reserve service to our nation. He served at the Joint Staff and is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Mike is active in the local community, having served as President for the Middleridge Civic Association, President of the Father Corby Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and is a Past Grand Knight and Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He is also a member of American Legion Post 177 in Fairfax and VFW Post 8469 in Fairfax Station.
