Michael (Mike) Torrey was born in La Jolla, CA. He graduated from Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax County and from the University of Kansas, earning a B.A. in Personnel Administration.
Mike is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM and has been in the financial services industry since 1998. He began his career working in the small group benefits market, and eventually expanded to include retirement plans, executive benefits, and full-service financial planning. He has also obtained the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) designation.
Mike strives to help business clients utilize their business cashflow to help them meet their personal and corporate financial goals on a tax-efficient basis, in such areas as key employee benefit plans, stock option planning, buy-sell funding and customized retirement plans. One of the unique planning opportunities available today allows for a business to pre-fund, through a pension plan, the reimbursement of post-retirement healthcare expenses for owners and key employees on a tax-free basis (tax deductible contributions, tax-deferred growth, and tax-free distribution).
Mike also provides hourly advice to individual clients in the areas of cash flow planning, retirement income planning, insurance planning, estate planning and college funding.
Mike is a retired Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve, having provided 30 years of active and reserve service to our nation. He has served considerable time in the Far East and is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Mike is active in the local community, having served as President for the Middleridge Civic Association, President of the Father Corby Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and is a Past Grand Knight and Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He lives in Fairfax with his wife and son.
